Computer Programming Experience
Programmer/Analyst, January 20000 - Present, Contract Consulting
SQL Server Database: Designed a database to store production data for the different processes that are used to manufacture steel. This included designing the entity relationships, scripts to create the tables with indexes and relationships, the stored procedures to insert the data delivered by the process control computers, table views to be used for ad-hoc queries, and the stored procedures that organized and manipulated multi-table data for web-based presentation. While my primary responsibility was to design the database and its procedures, I also wrote some PHP scripted web pages.
VB6 and SQL Server Application: Part of a three member team that developed the application, Recipient Overpayment Recovery System, to manage overpayment and fraud recovery for Arkansas Department of Human Services. The application is written in VB6 using a SQL Server database with reports using Crystal Reports. Active participation in designing the database and writing the source code which includes VB forms, VB classes, SQL script, triggers, stored procedures, views, and Crystal Reports.
Intranet Data Warehouse System: Part of a team that developed a Web based front-end for a cross-platform database (Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse) using ASP, VB Script, and Java Script. Developed stored procedures that use TSQL to extract and format data in reports that are dynamically created and displayed on the corporate Intranet active server pages. The reports are used corporate wide by Human Resources for determining compensation and by Sales, Marketing, and Upper Management to make financial and marketing decisions. Developed web reports using Excel and Crystal Reports. Used MS Visio for E/R diagrams and data flow charts
Auto Repair Order Program: Analyzed and redesigned an aborted auto dealer repair order program. This included restructuring the underlying database as well as developing the MS Access forms and writing the VBA programming necessary to provide the in-house programmers with a sound infrastructure with which to complete the programming project.
IT Cost Tracking System: Audited an MS Access project database structure for integrity and stability; developed class modules with VBA procedures, developed reports, and documented the objects used along with their dependencies, interrelationships, SQL statements in the stored queries, and the imbedded SQL queries in the VBA code.
Sheriff's Office Budget Administration: Developed a database and interface for the Budget Director of a large Tennessee County Sheriff's Office for administrating budget requests and the approved amounts. The user interface is written in MS Visual Basic 6.0, using SQL and ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) to interface with an MS Access database file. The program has the ability to administrate the departmental divisions, budget accounts, request justifications, and the approved budget. The interface includes entry, edit, and search capabilities. The reports include listings for the budget requests, the approved budget, the divisions, and the accounts. The budget requests and approved budget reports are capable of several user selected formats.

Programmer/Analyst, March 1998 - December 1999, Manufacturing Company
Inventory and Purchasing: Designed and Developed an inventory and purchasing module that is part of a manufacturing system. It has the ability to track inventory movement, including purchasing and costs, en route tracking records, vendor records and quotes, warehouse placement, and factory requisitions. The inventory parts screen includes a hi-res display of the part. The program is currently running on a Windows NT network with thirty-five clients. The database engine is Microsoft's Jet engine, the same that is used in Microsoft Access. The user interface is written in MS Visual Basic 6.0, using SQL to interface with the database object.
Product Display Program: Used by sales personnel as a catalog of produced goods which included hi-res product pictures. Sales personnel use the program's capability to create a "slide show" to present products that would interest the customer.Written in Visual Basic 6.0

Programmer/Analyst, May 1985 - March 1998, ABS Logic, Inc., Jonesboro, AR
(The following are the main projects. There were other smaller programs, program
maintenance, and consulting. I am the owner and founder of ABS Logic.)
Resort Reservation and Billing (1997-1998): This program was developed for a timeshare resort in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas using VB 4.0 and VB 5.0.
Landfill Program (1992-1997): A program used by county landfills in Tennessee and Arkansas that interfaces with the truck scale, keeping track of state-mandated material types and quantity, financial, and tax reports using VB-DOS. The program was modified for an Arkansas County so that it could handle several different county and city set of accounts using the same scale and landfill.
Water Analysis Expert System (1998-1993): Developed for a pool chemical company in Ohio to provide their dealers recommendations based on pool size, material, and water analysis, and to maintain a database of customers and their pool water analysis and purchase histories. The programming environment was MS Quick Basic 4.5. It is noteworthy that this program was developed in Jonesboro, Arkansas, using long-distance communication rather than on-site in Ohio. During this period there were several versions as the company added more features to the program. Provided the tech help for the program during this time and for another two years after the final version, at which time the product line was sold to another company.
Voter Registration (1996): A database of registered county voters with random jury selection programmed in VB-DOS.
Magnetic Media (1992): Developed to produce the IRS and SSA magnetic media reports from an existing accounting program's database. Programming environment was MS Basic Compiler 7.1.
Accounting (1985-1991): Developed a general ledger program that is intuitive for the user, along with payroll and inventory programs that interface with it. The program was first written in MS Basic Compiler 7.1 and then later converted to VB-DOS.
Aircraft Navigation (1981-1986): Designed algorithms to calculate heading, distance, and electronic waypoints using a database of airport and navaid coordinates. The program was marketed through the Aircraft Components, Inc. Flyer catalog in both IBM PC and Atari versions. This program received a First Place Atari Star Award in 1984. ABS Logic was founded in order to market this program

Other Work Experience
Corporate Pilot and Flight Instructor (1977-1991): Started three air charter services and was a pilot for four different corporations.
